Letter from Hotel Holley dated 13 May 1915

Hotel Holley
Washington Square West
NEW YORK

Mr Bob Noble,
S.S. Christable, N.Y.

Dear Mr. Noble:-
As per my conversation with you
of this morning, we are writing in reference
to any business you may be able to send our way.
Our house is centrally located in the
heart of the shopping district and a short ride
from your piers.

We have a very fine little hotel here
and I am sure that anyone you may send this way
shall receive the very best care. For any ef-
fort you may make in our behalf, we shall be
very glad to give you 10% on any business you
send this way.

We are enclosing complimentary pass
for the season of 1915 which we hope you may
have occasion to use shortly.

Yours very truly,

HOLLEY HOTEL,
By W A Day

WAD: HJS

Note: The hotel owners are mentioned on the stationary as David H and William J Knott. It Happened on Washington Square, by Emily Keis Folpe, p 224, mentions that New York University acquired the Holley Hotel and Holley Chambers to use first as a residence for law students and then as a dormitory for undergraduate students. The book says that the Knott family built the hotel and ran it with a man named Judson Church. It adds that the hotel was named for Alexander Lyman Holley, whose memorial statue sits in Washington Square Park
