Letter from Isabel Bolton dated 8 November 1915

November 8, 1915
10 Ocean Port Ave
Long Branch, NJ

My dear Bob.
We are in Long Branch
at last and we are certainly
glad to get away from
New York. It is awfully
nice down here and I think
you will like it, we only
have the - diningroom,
kitchen and living room
settled as yet because
the wall paperer is working
upstairs also the plumber
we are away out on
the outskirts, we have
to go for our mail and
every thing, so we have
a box the number is 70
(seventy). Mama came
down first and I stayed
two nights alone in the
little room in Jersey.
We are going to bed early
and getting up early too.
Mama and I were sewing
curtains all afternoon
I will find plenty to do
now down here trying
to make the house more
cosey[sic]. One has more ambition
to do little fixings in a
house than in a flat.
I couldn't help thinking
when I got up this morning
that you have been up
about five hours and
have a day s work done.
Well Bob you have been
gone four days and it
almost seems four weeks.
Now Robbie it is all for
the best shure [sic] it's all for
the best. I will be glad
when Thanks Giving comes
I'll be to the station to
meet you, you must not
forget to go to Mrs Pfiefers
or phone, I miss you
an awful lot and wish
you were here.

I can guess what Mrs
Donavan said about me,
she probably thought
I was a bit rougher
than Eunice, she is so
polished and I am
so loud[?] but I don't
care, Mrs Donavan seems
to be very nice, Bobie
dear Please excuse my
writing I expected to
take some time and be
careful, but papa wants
to take me to the Theater
and it is so far to the
centre to mail the letter,
I am writing this in
a hurry, It is seven o'clock.

Now, Now Robbie be a
good boy and dont
gamble. With lots of love
and a million kisses from
Isabel.

P.S. My phone number is
Long Branch 847.

XXXXXXXXXXXX

Note: Robbie arrived in port of New York approx Thurs Oct 28, 1915 aboard S. S. Panama and departed Thurs Nov 4, 1915. He expected to return to New York by Thanksgiving, Thurs Nov 25, 1915. He would have stayed until Thurs Dec 2, 1915. This indicates three weeks at sea and one week in New York, with arrivals and departures on Thursdays. This means he would have arrived Dec 23, 1915 for Christmas holidays and departed Dec 30, 1915.

The envelope was postmarked Long Branch, NJ, Nov 8, 1915, 7pm, addressed to Mr Robert J Noble, S. S. Panama, Cristoble, Panama, Canal Zone, with Second Steard noted in bottom left corner, on purple stationary envelope, the same color as the letter above.

Clearly Robert Noble used his experience with Isabel Bolton's family's move from New York City to Ocean Port Avenue in Long Branch to create his birth place of Ocean Port/Long Branch, which appear on his children's birth records. Birth records show he was born in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh.
